How to Unlock the Weapon Tree in Monster Hunter Rise

At a glance

Weapon-tree question marks usually need more progression or key materials. A known node may still require missing materials or an earlier weapon to upgrade.

Question marks or hidden details Continue progression and obtain new monster or gathering materials.
A named weapon with missing materials Gather the items shown in its material list.
Upgrade available, but no direct Forge option Follow the connecting branch and obtain the required earlier weapon.

Forge versus Upgrade

At the Smithy, choose your weapon type and inspect the target node and its connecting lines.

Forge makes a weapon directly. Upgrade uses an existing weapon plus the required materials and money. Not every node can be forged from scratch.

Continue your current story or Hub progression, hunt newly available monsters and gather in newly accessible maps. Return to the tree after obtaining their materials. You do not need to craft unrelated branches just to reveal one target.

When can you roll a weapon back?

Use Rollback only on eligible upgrade nodes marked with the yellow arrow. A directly forged weapon cannot be rolled back.

Rollback is not a general fix for question marks. If a target is still locked, identify the exact weapon node and your current quest progress before deciding what is missing.
